I think you mean “The Lyons Sleeps Tonight.”
Having been on many Negativland tours over the years, I’ve shared countless motel rooms with Neg co-founder Richard Lyons, and I’d recognize those nasal rumblings anywhere. Many is the time that I had to sleepily stumble out of my Super 8 extra-hard Sealy Posturepedic in a scantily-clad state to creep across to Dick’s and roll him over; the only way to get his log-sawing to stop.
One can only wonder how this current recording was made.

tonight when I was out walking my cat, I suddenly heard this insane snoring issuing from an apartment window. It was noisy and disgusting inhaling and exhaling both. The sounds were revolting, kind of like a combination between your stomach recording and a speeded-up, amplified version of the snoring you have posted here. I was wondering how all the other tenants (the windows were very close together) were managing to sleep through it. and my cat kept looking up at the window, startled, and flattening her ears. I wanted to record it, but I have NO devices for that (my cell phone probably wouldn’t be too great). What do you recommend (realistic for an average person- no capacitors, sautering, etc. please). thanks! 😉

Actually I’m not sure who was snoring. That was a long time ago. I think it was recorded on an inexpensive cassette recorder, possibly my Superscope C-104, which was actually a fairly high quality machine. Probably today a digital voice recorder would do a good job. There are a lot of makes and models from $40 and up. Some make mp3s or wav files. I would guess virtually all of these machines have a USB connection so that recorded audio can be transferred to a computer to be edited. I would never have been able to do anything like that with a cassette recorder.
