Direct mp3 download or play: Christmas 1984 Scrabble Pt.1
Quite often my family liked to play scrabble when visiting during the Christmas holidays. I recorded this in stereo on my Sony TC-D5M cassette recorder using metal tape and Dolby B noise reduction. The microphone was an ECM-939LT one point stereo condenser. The voices of my mother, my father, my grandmother, and myself can be heard. I am presenting this unedited and with no audio processing.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI don’t think we’ve ever heard your father speak so much on tape. I can’t stop laughing- he’s really sassing your mom on this one.
Adobe Flash! Yay!! I have a Windows 2000 computer with Firefox as my browser, and the embedded Quicktime files don’t appear (sending me over to IE, grumblingly). But the Flash files appear and play perfectly! Thank you!
Hi David……thanx for being the staple entertainment of my teenage years and even today (at age 34) Negativland continues to be a pleasant addiction for me. The words dumb, stupid and idiot are frequent words that I yell and scream everyday. Ahh the wonderful power of influence. I’m glad that the old lady can play home sweet home all the way through to make Happy The Harmonica happy. -J
First, I’d like to thank all of you for the positive feedback. This post and “Christmas 1984 Scrabble Pt.2” are the largest files I have put up so far and I just learned how to upload to the Word Press Flash audio player. I’m interested on how well it’s working for all of you. More comments, please?
I love it. Great to hear some “new” family tapes. They sound great. It would be nice to have access to the audio files so we can download them for listening without being tethered to the computer.
Your Father was wrong. You can put tiles together and make 2 new words. You knew this though, I imagine you were being polite.
