Now with Schematic and Specifications
Click HERE for a high resolution schematic diagram and HERE for the specifications. Unfortunately the schematic is so small, a lot of the values of the components are unreadable. It does actually look this way in the instruction booklet. The specifications page is quite clear. More information about this amplifier was requested and I hope this helps.
This was purchased in the early 1970’s by a friend in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the late 70’s or early 80’s my friend sold it to me and I used it in my audio system until 2002. When I moved from California to Seattle in the fall of 2002, I packed the amplifier in its original box. It stayed untouched in my garage until late 2007, when I unpacked it and started using it again. This is the amplifier I’m referring to in the post “075” on this site and it does still work perfectly. I can remember when I was in Cal Hi Fi,a stereo hifi shop in Pleasant Hill, California, where these and similar stereo amplifiers were sold. The sales person referred to this as a “sexy” amplifier.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackbackhey I have the same one as you! There seems to only be 3 on the web at this time.
I was wondering if you had any luck finding schematics or service manuals for this beautiful thing. Because I haven’t been able to. Please email me back.

Thank you, but all I have is this very basic manual. If my unit fails, I’ll be out of luck. Back in the early seventies this amplifier really wasn’t considered high end and I didn’t think much of it at the time. Now I guess it is a collectors item.
Also if you haven’t already guessed, I’m a little bit strange. Part of that strangeness is that I don’t like email. I know that’s dumb among other things. Please try not to be angry or frustrated with me. Perhaps as I progress in this blog I might get over some of my problems about email.
Hello,
I have this model also, it’s working fine except crash of the volume pot; Do you have, please, the notice and /or scheme of this one .
Many thanks in advance from France .

I used to work at Cal Hi Fi in the mid 70’s in the advertising department. First as an assistant to the advertising director then as the advertising director the second time around. Yes, I worked there twice.
I’m Sorry Ben Tony for not getting back to you sooner, but I don’t have any of those items you mentioned. In addition, I am only an enthusiast, not a store.
And for you reinius, I saw this amplifier on display at the Cal Hi-Fi in Pleasant Hill, California in the 1970s. As I noted in my original comment, I can remember the sales person referring to this unit as “sexy,” probably because of the chrome handles.
Thank you all for commenting. I hope the additional information helps those of you who may be trying to repair or restore an H. H. Scott A426 amplifier.
Can anyone help me? I have the A426 amplifier. It’s broken. When i turn on the power it doesn’t work and the fuse burns trough.
I hope some one can help me!
Greetings,
Richard (Netherlands)
