Direct mp3 download or play: Rain and Thunder – July 23rd, 2014
Here is a recording of rain, distant thunder, birds, and cars on the street sometime between 5:30 AM and 7 AM on this day. I used my Sony PCM-D50 digital recorder set at 44.1 kHz and 24 bit .wav file. The recorder was set up at the doorway to the deck behind my house in Seattle. Then An mp3 was made at 44.1 kHz and 320 kilobits per second, using the LAME MP3 encoder.
I figured I was pretty lucky to get this, because generally in my opinion the weather in Seattle is similar to California with respect to the the fact that most precipitation happens in the late fall and winter. Seattle simply receives much more rain than California. This doesn’t account for the extreme drought conditions, but for a normal season for California.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackGood morning, Weatherman. Have always enjoyed your recordings, both before and after N-Land, so thank you for sharing them. Was born and raised in Contra Costa County (living in Walnut Creek); in 1993, moved to Ashland, Oregon, where I presently am; soon, my wife and I and our cats are moving to Bellingham. So, it would appear that my life’s migrating parallels yours to a degree 🙂 My father, who was living at Rossmoor Leisure World, died last Autumn, so we’ve no longer a need to be within driving distance of the SF Bay Area, so away we go….back to wonderful maritime climate that we’ve missed so very much (my wife’s from Vancouver BC, originally. Did you hear that the powers-that-be tore down the Syufy Dome cinema in Pleasant Hill? Deplorable. Think the one’s in SanJose might have just been demolished too! How’s the Cinerama in Seattle? Am looking forward to taking in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ there someday. Maybe we could meet someday for a Tony’s java or some such? I would like to meet you. Do you know how Lyons is doing? I heard, a while back, that he wasn’t well; hope he is now. Anyway…again: thanks and maybe we could meet sometime. Hope your Summer is a nice one. Bye for now.
All rain, all good. Lucky you!
Finally, some legitimate real comments! I know I’m slow and I haven’t maintained the website as well as possible, and thank you for stopping by.
