Direct mp3 download or play: The Booper That Never Leaves Seattle
Earlier today I did a Facebook live broadcast featuring one of the noise makers I’ve been experimenting with since I was a teenager. It’s one of several “Boopers” and this one I’ve kept away from Negativland. I’m too old and lazy to give this one up as I would be forced to build another one. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I’m a ridiculous old man, now. The sound is very poor on the Facebook live stream so I made this higher quality mp3. Note the sound is mono from the left side only until about 5:09, and no additional processing was done to the audio.

Eventually, when that day that comes to us all finally comes to pass, this (and probably a few other things you have there at Weatherman HQ) belongs in a prestigious museum somewhere, if not even the Smithsonian.
The size of the audience is irrelevant (though having said that, I think that size is also probably a bit greater than many people might imagine.) The Booper is, as far as I’m concerned, a seriously important piece of cultural technology from the second half of the 20th century, and it should be fully recognized as such.
And I must stress again – despite what anybody else feels, I am 100% serious and not kidding about this.
I notice on this Booper, compared to others (specifically the blue model below), the “on/off” switch is reversed. Care to explain?
Unfortunately there are at the very least hundreds of thousands of individuals that just brush me aside and move on.
As for the on/off switch goes, I don’t think about which side is on or off. That is a good point, though, especially if I were to sell Boopers.
I wish You could see the look on My dogs face right now.
