Direct mp4 file download or play: Trying Out A New Cheap Camera
Here I’m testing a new inexpensive digital camera. It’s a Vivitar model DVR 785HD with up to 5.1 megapixel still image resolution. Also, it can record 720p high definition video with monophonic sound from the built-in microphone and the camera can be used underwater.
The video was shot with only normal lights in my kitchen and living room and it features a bicycle horn underwater, various items in my kitchen and a very uncooperative action figure of Moses. Look close and you will see the original Booper (Super Booper) which I made in the 1970s. Don Joyce sent it to me for repair. It appears the problem is with the battery holder.
This could be my first product review and I guess to sum it up, this camera might be called “A poor man’s GoPro.”Vivitar DVR 785HD Pro Action Camera Camcorder

Here is another screen capture of my software defined radio. See my post “Screen Capture Test ” for more information. This time I used Daum Potplayer to capture the image and made a flash file “on the fly,” simultaneously. I noticed the aspect ratio was not standard like 640×480, but 958×718, which is still close to 4×3. Let me know if you can view the video.
Codec information from VLC media player for this video
The following two videos(as I learn how to do screen captures better) will look best when downloaded and played back in their native resolution, 640 by 480 and 1280 by 720, respectively. These will have better audio, as well.

This one must be extremely rare. I was unable to find any image or video featuring this style of packaging.
Thank you to Turd Furgison/Gorpisnorb for providing this collection of vintage soap.
This is a video still, showing me eating out of a frying pan at my home in Martinez, California.

Finally, here is the video from Christmas Day, 2000! It’s actually not a frying at all, but it is still quite dumb.

This is a screen capture test of my software defined radio (Funcube Dongle Pro+, running SDRSharp, Version 1299) receiving WWV at 5 and 10 megahertz. Reception is poor due to using my Comet discone antenna (on a tripod in my living room) which is designed to recieve 25 to 1,500 megahertz. Actually, the signal is remarkably good, considering the short antenna elements. In addition, my reception is bothered by a considerable amount of interfering noise from the computer, power lines, and strong unwanted radio frequencies such as FM broadcast stations and digital TV signals. If you are able to view this at full screen, the file type (the geeky part) is an H.264, .mp4 inside a .flv container at 1280 by 720 pixels. The original capture was done with FRAPS game capturing software and was 781 megabytes in size. I used free software “Xmedia Recode” to trans-code from uncompressed video to flash. The upper right of the picture shows the frame rate from the FRAPS program, which is around 30 frames per second. What you see here is only 7.14 megabytes, and in my opinion it doesn’t look much worse than the original.
As of this time, I’ve checked additional posts in categories from the bottom up “Weather, ” to “Street Names Update,” and they appear to be okay. A major problem I think I fixed, was comments were set to close and not be allowed after 14 days. I am sorry about that, please forgive my dumbness! Let me know, especially on the previous post, “Numbers” where I noticed comments were not allowed. I left a test comment, making sure I was logged out of WordPress.
Some of you may have noticed I started a Facebook page earlier in May, separate from the Negativland Facebook page. I had to delete the page because it was too much for me to manage. The spam was, and still is overwhelming! Also, I think Facebook is getting a little too nosy for me. Sorry about that.

Direct mp3 download or play: Seattle Scanner Radio Ambience 3-13-2009
This is the sound of radio traffic in Seattle on an average day in 2009. The left side is all from my RadioShack Pro-97 receiving signal from the Seattle-King County Public Safety (3D1C) trunked system. This is mostly law enforcement and public safety, such as Seattle police and fire departments. The right side features my AOR communications receiver receiving other communications from aircraft (Sea-Tac Airport and Boeing Field), taxis and ride services, King County Metro and Sound Transit (city buses), pagers, towing services and other unidentified signals. Be sure to check out the RadioReference pages for more information on trunking scanners and Seattle-King County Public Safety. Recently, the city buses have switched to a new digital radio system, and at the moment I am unable to listen. Go here to hear the last call on the old radio system.

This is something quite different. I made this “piece” in response to the recent horrible (Sandy Hook School Shooting) events. I ‘m not going to say too much about it, but I will say that I created it entirely on my computer and it features a loop (Go To The Church) created by Negativland member Richard Lyons.
That was December 2012, and I didn’t think that project was good enough to post. Now, in December 2013, I’ve had second thoughts, and I know some of you want to more of my “music.” So here it is. I hope it isn’t too stupid and dumb.

4ORMULATOR in Adobe Audition (I changed Windows desktop theme from basic to Windows 7 “Aero)”
The basic sound was created using free VST plugins “MadRing,” “DTBlkFxS,” and “LoudMax” running in VSTHost. Then I finished up processing the audio further with another free VST plugin called “4ORMULATOR” running in Adobe Audition. The video was made by playing the audio in Winamp with “Milkdrop” visualization and screen capturing the video and audio with FRAPS. This made a giant uncompressed file, larger than 10 gigabytes. This file was trans-coded to a smaller size and to Flash video format, suitable for uploading.

Recently, members of Negativland got into a little dust up over Viagra, also known as “boner” pills. I decided it might be fun if I showed a couple of the commercials to point out what that distinctly manly music is on these ads. I had nothing better to do, so enjoy!
