Direct mp3 download or play: New Year’s Seattle 2009
Here is an uncut recording of New Year’s 2009 starting from just before 11:49 PM December 31st, 2008 and ending at 12:15 AM on January 1st, 2009. I’m using my outside microphones and a shortwave radio receiver. The sound is similar to “4th of July Ambience 2008” and “Ambience Recording” with the addition of the shortwave radio station WWV running simultaneously.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe rain being picked up by the two microphones sound very different from each other. How far apart were the mics?

I was at The Fillmore seeing Don, Mark and Peter perform The Booper Symphony last night followed by the Butthole Surfers. It was a great time. I didn’t expect that there would be an appearance by the Weatherman, but even so I was a little sad that one didn’t materialize.
Thanks for doing this blog, I’ve really enjoyed it. Best wishes for 2009.
(What a sycophantic fanboy I am.)
I’m curious as to whether you’ve ever picked up or recorded any shortwave numbers stations.
I enjoyed listening to this…
If you were listening to WWV a few hours earlier, you would have heard the extra second being inserted.
The microphones are 60 to 75 feet apart and I’m using the same setup as in the post “Ambience Recording” except I’m recording onto a Sony PCM-D50 digital recorder.
