This is home video I shot in 1987 for a fanzine called “Another Room.” I used my Sony CCD-V110 8 millimeter camcorder. I was actually afraid the guests wouldn’t appreciate being videotaped. It turns out this group didn’t mind my antics and being treated like my mother and grandmother.
I’m hoping to get Mark Hosler to help identify all of the attendees and comment on this event.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackNote to interested younger people – if you’re a hipster, this is what you would have looked like in 1987.
I offer the above with no prejudice for or against. Just calling it like I’m seeing it.
Unfortunately those younger people are mostly on Facebook and Twitter. As much as I try to entice them to come over here, my words go unnoticed. Seems like the harder I try, the more distant they become.
Here’s a video you ought to watch and any one else who reads this comment. It pretty much sums up what Facebook is doing to me. This is not some silly conspiracy theory, it’s the “real deal.”

The two gentlemen in black towards the beginning look like V. Vale and Boyd Rice. Could they be?
Gotta test the toilet, eh?
Looks like V and B there to me. I believe this would have been not long after the Pranks book came out.
Two of my favorite songs towards the end; Culturecide’s They’re Not The World and The Weirdos’ Destroy All Music.
It was incredibly rare for all of us to ever do anything social together (outside of making our records, live shows and radio shows), so this is quite a unique bit of tape! And wild to see this as I don’t recall any of it!
I can see at the party are Negativland members David Wills (filming the whole thing) Ian Allen, Don Joyce, Chris Grigg and myself, as well as Das (Big City Orchestra), Brook Hinton (Big City Orchestra, Kings House), Boyd Rice (Non), Vale (Re/Search), John Gullak (Mutants, Another Room), a British guy whose name I don’t recall who was part of running either Recommended Records or Rough Trade in London, a guy from Los Microwaves, Eli Messenger (a KALX friend of Dons who taught him how to splice tape and worked with Don on some amazing pre-Negativland projects), and Dan Ruderman (who did a great William Burroughs impersonation, used to do OTE shows with us, and was the guy who generously loaned us the money to publish our FAIR USE book).
I see Kim Cascone in there as well…
