Periodically, I blurt out the names of streets I think up. I don’t know why. Maybe someday the rest of Negativland will turn these into an art project of some sort. I’ll add more here as I think of them.
I’ve added a new feature to Street Names Update. In addition to the text, I will be adding the sound of my voice pronouncing the names the way I think they should be vocalized. To give my voice quite an irritating strident sound, a Radio Shack electret condenser microphone was placed into a crock pot with a towel. Occasionally, I will add sound to a street name in no particular order. I added some more streets and vocalizations of the names on August 30th, 2009. “Hellzipper Lane” huh huh

the time has come for the creation of a weatherman random streetname generator.
i will donate 50 swedish crowns to the wrsng fund.
“street names” would be hilarious to hear blurted out.
is there an audio version?
How’s about a street names symphony?
Ok, well, a street names sonata then?
How about Telefukker Trail?
Brilliant!
I especially love Gunmeat Street!
What made you think of the crockpot, though?
Very strange.
Remember Crock Pot is a brand name, so we must capitalize the words. The size and shape of this container create very short reverberation for the microphone which emphasizes my distinct voice quality.
I never knew that! I always assumed Crock Potâ„¢ was a generic term. I guess it’s like Saran Wrapâ„¢, Bandaidsâ„¢ and Frisbeeâ„¢; we just use those terms to describe the item, regardless of the brand.
I don’t think anyone but you, Weatherman, would explore the sonic capabilities of crockery!
As a display of my appreciation for this unstinting contribution to the digital community, I will stop being a lazy idiot and promise to henceforth utilize capital letters where appropriate.
I can’t wait for the next opportunity to write “The Cellagutchian” on a “Hello, my name is:…” sticker.
How about 180 G Street?
By the way, is the “180-G” a reference to an address? Is there is a G street in Martinez?
so many questions, I know.
peodoppoler plidiption court
Drehighprude Street.
Click on all the cue arrows as fast as you can and visualize-
The Weatherman directing traffic on the Yolo Causeway wearing a blaze-orange hospital gown.
clicking rapidly on the cue/pause makes a wonderful stammering effect that would make Tim Conway blush.
“South Vodeoderodoeroder Lane”
Vlax turns out to be a real word, referring to a dialect of Romani (Gypsy) language… It rhymes with “loch” rather than flax, though.
This post may work a little better. I just changed all the mp3s from 224 KBPS stereo to 64 KBPS mono.
That is much better. Now when replaying them all simultaneously there is no overloading. That is, except for in my lobes- right where I like it.
Is there any way I could listen to The Weatherman on my GPS instead of the droll generic British Woman? There is something immensely gratifying about having him shout directions at me.
Again, I am not well.

I may have to change how this post works. With so many individual Quicktime players loading at once, there must be a more efficient way to present the audio. I am aware of the problems of this post and hopefully I will have a solution, eventually. In the meantime I probably won’t attempt to add any more street names and you may have noticed a few of the street names are using the Flash player. Be patient, thank you.
At this point I’m not really sure how to proceed with this post. I’m still thinking of more street names, but this presentation is quite clunky and slow. I do appreciate all the comments. Keep it up!
Be sure to go to my new version of this post (http://www.negativland.com/dumb/blog/?p=3352) and leave more comments.
